Replying to language questions

I'm not sure, but I would probably rather try to build a sentence where I could use "to drop" or "to lower" instead.

"The inhibition threshold for violence recedes..."

Is "recedes" the right word in this context?

okay...another question...
i have to analyse "the world is too much with us" by william wordsworth, but i do not really have an idea of what "up-gathered" could mean. here's the poem:

The world is too much with us; late and soon,
Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers;
Little we see in Nature that is ours;
We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon!
This Sea that bares her bosom to the moon,
The winds that will be howling at all hours,
And are up-gathered now like sleeping flowers,
For this, for everything, we are out of tune;
It moves us not.--Great God! I'd rather be
A Pagan suckled in a creed outworn; (1)
So might I, standing on this pleasan...

the german word for it is "Bildungstheoretisch", which means something like theory of education, only used as an adjective...
the whole course's called "Bildungstheoretische Zugänge zum Lehrberuf", which leads to another problem, the term Lehrberuf doesn't really exist in english...so i translated the rest with "approaches to teaching"
i need it for my statement of purpose, 'cause the nice lady at the international office told me to include the courses i've been taking this year...

Nope, "Educationtheoretical" isn't a word. What's it mean? Like new ways of teaching that people experiment with?

another question:

is "Educationtheoretical Approaches to Teaching" english? any other ideas of what that subject could be called in english?

homework correction, don't really know what my teacher wants

"after waiting for some minutes it started raining, ..."  - overall sentence construction


"Soon it turned out that this person did not only not fit with my desired appearance ..." - wrong word
i knew that it would't fit, but i couldn't come up with any other solution. i wanted to say, that the person does not look like what "i" wished for at all.
