Right now, I am posting from Windows Preinstallation Environment, a scaled-back version of Windows Vista that boots from a CD and runs from a RAMdrive. It takes up 201 MEGABYTES on the CD and the RAMdrive is 9.37 Megabytes. I installed Firefox, for shits and giggles, and it worked (I had to install it to the hard drive, but it could be made to run from the CD or RAMdrive.

What I don't understand is why Microsoft won't let people use WinPE to build their own version of Windows that does only what they want it to. Well actually, I do understand why, it's so they can make more money.
anyway, as soon as I get a decent computer running again, I am going to do just that, have a version of WinPE that runs Firefox and Program Manager and Winfile from CD. IT WILL BE RAD.

the random freezes have stoped, but now this happened:

Fuck you firefox, pawns in the pocket of Microsoft's planned obsolecence orgy.

This computer has gotten to where it freezes a lot, at first I thought it was Windows 2000, but XP is doing it too. eComStation seems to be running great still, though. The weird part is that it ran fine all day and did not start fucking up until about 7:00. it has frozen part of the way through startup for a few weeks, though. I think it is on the verge of dieing.

the only real advances they have made are in the fields of making things shiny.
Oh wait, Windows 2000 can do that too!

I just hacked the registry so I could install avast free antivirus on Windows 2000 server.

woo hoo!

Windows 2000 server can run the latest versions of all this:
Firefox
Flash Player
Avast Antivirus

it can also run all of this
Microsoft Office 2003
iTunes 7
WMP 9

so yeah, Windows 2000 is pretty fucking awesome!

I am aware of reactos, it is ok, but hardware compatibility sucks, it wont even run under MS Viurtual PC.
