And even so, hipsters are generally good people, they are really no more annoying than your standard studded leather jacket punx.

I did not know about the Atlanta scene (which is awesome by the way, look up The Wild and The The Disregardables as a place to start) as long as I only went to shows with touring bands. Those shows have more people like you who are looking for a scene they don't know already exists. The best advice I can give you is find out about local bands and stuff (I think The Taxpayers are from Portland!). Also, veg...

Portland has plenty of punks, unless of course they all suddenly went hipster over-night. If you haven't met any, you must not even be looking.

1. Go to shows and shoot the shit with people there.

Be warned though, punks tend to be snobby assholes who smell like shit. You might want to brush up on your music tastes and stop bathing before you tread new ground.

What's up everybody.

I just signed up and I wanna ask you all something.  

I really, really wanna be in a band.  Preferably a punk band like, say, Anti-Flag, Bad Religion or NOFX (who I just saw live last night!).  I keep up with current issues and would like to make songs that speak to them.  I'm currently in college and I have a lot to think about.  I'm definitely going to finish college because I want a degree, but after, I am definitely game to start a band.  I just don't know how!!!  How do I meet people that are interested in the same thing as me?  I have a friend, roommate actually, who plays guitar really well, he's just not that into punk rock and we kind of have different views on certain issues.  I play bass, which I hear is always in demand, but how do I get my name out in the punk scene?  Where's a good cit...
