you could just move your mouse cursor to a part of the screen where you cant inadvertently click on stuff, or not push down so hard on the middle button/scroll wheel.

Just out of habit? If so, Floyd's advice would help.

And there I was, thinking, that the purpose of those profiles is actually to be read by other members.   I don't think, that people are complaining about other members visiting their profile randomly. I'm new here and when I notice an interesting post, I will most certainly visit the profile of the poster. If people don't like certain info to be public, they shouldn't publish it.

Uh, you misunderstood the conversation in this topic.

Wasn't the thread starter expressing his worries about not wanting to seem like a creeper, because of this mouse-malfunction?

I just wanted to say, that there is nothing to worry about in my opinion, because it shouldn't be considered as creepy, when you visit profiles more or less randomly.

Well yeah that too.

I don't understand that either, I just visit someone's profile, notice a weird comment conversation, follow that to the profile of the other participant, etc. This works especially well if you're looking at James', Steve's, Emma's or PRG's profile. :D I may seem like a creeper but people are used to that.
