Has anyone seen this?  It's a TV show that was made in the 90s, about a family in the 80s.  The sister and the brother are trying to fit in at school, and while the brother is a "geek", the sister quickly tries to become one of the "freaks" (stoners, rebels, etc).  Upon first hearing this, it may sound like the show is trying too hard to fit these characters into a mold, but they all go much deeper than their associated stereotypes while simultaneously being played believably.  Honestly, the script brings most Hollywood movies to absolute shame and it has inspired my writing style a lot.

For anyone who has seen Pineapple Express, it has Seth Rogen and that other main character in it, and they're both part of the stoner crowd.  It says something when I (someone who can't stand stoner films or Seth Rogen) really love this show.  However, if you're expecting humor like what you find in Pineapple Express, don't.  The humor here is more subtle and realistic.

It only lasted 18 or so episodes, but they're each an hour in length.  I know it has a cult-like following, so I'm just wondering if anyone here has seen it.  They started playing it on G4TV, if you're interested!

I read about it, but I've never seen it.
History is not something that happens to people--it is the activity of people. Culture does not dictate human behavior--it is the sum of human behavior. Technological progree is not a force of nature, either.
There is no civilization without civilizing, no capitalization without us capitalizing and capitulating.

My brother tells me that I watched this show when I was young, but I don't really remember it. I should watch it now that I can actually remember/understand it.

Awesome, but wouldn't you have been 9 years old?  Have you seen it since?

I realized I ought to see this show this past school year.  All of the episodes are on youtube (though some segments are without sound) and it's absolutely fantastic!!!!  Young Seth Rogan, James Franco, and Jason Segal is GOLD.

Have it on DVD have watched it straight through twice, plus when it originally aired. Most of  the Apatow regulars  are in it. Might I also recommend Undeclared? Its a less drama more comedy show that Apatow did, which is basically "freaks and geeks go to college".

I've now finished the series.

Darn it.  It's depressing because I wanted it to keep going.

Spoiler

I feel weird talking about this as if it was real, but the plot was so good!  It may be my new favorite TV show of all time.

By the way, Millie was my favorite character.  :)

Oh man. i was SO upset when I was getting towards the last couple of episodes just knowing that it would be over soon :( I wish they could still make new seasons but all the actors are probably a little outdated for it at this point :P

Sam Levine and James Franco look the same, but John Francis Daley is like 8 feet tall.

Ha, That 80's Show is real, but it was a terrible That 70s Show spinoff.

Off topic:Chyler Leigh with liberty spikes is so hot.
Back on Topic. I had friends over today, we were watching the credits for Scooby Doo 2 for some reason and I saw Linda Cardellini. I pulled the box set of Freaks and Geeks off the shelf to show my friend what she used to look like, then she saw Seth Rogen and James Franco and vowed to watch the show.
