Nine of the songs seem to make some reference to water.  Perhaps some kind of theme that was intended with the album?  Or maybe this is just a coincidence.

Anyways, this is what I do when I have free time:

Good and Ready

SOS who will save our ship?
SOS who gives a shit?
Sinking like a rock with a heart of coal
Sinking like a rock without a soul

Bright Lights of America

A concrete city hell (City hell)
Suburbs that never end (Just like an ocean)

The Modern Rome Burning

I bow my head in respect
Of the dead
Because they're all bogged down
And there ain't no fucking S.O.S
That's going to save our sinking ship

Spit In The Face

As we set sail across a raging sea
(As we set sail across a raging sea)

Unconquerable by reality
I am infallible, I am untouchable

We Are The Lost

Have you ever been drowned?
Transparent sea...
In the water with millions of others, but still somehow unseen.

Go West

Go west young man
Your future is untold
You can find your dreams on the California coast

The Smartest Bomb

An electrifying organized crime,
With planes and boats and suicide
Sit down, line up, knuckle down, shut up

Shadow Of The Dead

Open it up, tear it up, fuck it up...
In the streets runs a river knee deep.
Hidden in the blood of our own lies the alphabet of the free.

. . . .

We will be sovereign in the water in the shadow of the dead.
Still no one remembers them.

The Ink And The Quill

The water turned black and it's just getting darker.

. . . .

Water tastes like arsenic - feel it pumping coursing in your blood.
Your throat gets tight, you can't quite breathe. room spinning - kiss your ass goodbye.

Thoughts?

noticed it before especially after listening to The Ink and the Quill, that album is so underrated, much better than what we got with with tpotg and tgs, imo.

I think it's probably a coincidence. Like they use the word gasoline a lot;

Turncoat: "In your corner, makes me wanna, douse myself in gasoline"

Youth and tear gas: "I was burning like a forest fire yeah I was burning like gasoline"

Sold as freedom: "Fight fire with fire, douse violent flames in gasoline" and then "Pull gasoline on the world inferno"

This is the first night: "With just a half tank of gas, 150 miles to go"

I think it's just because they run out of subject matter lol

True, but only two of those songs were on the same album.  Seems stranger that 9 songs would reference water on the same album.

It's because Anti-Flag is the musical equivalent of waterboarding.

True, but much like waterboarding, the information you get from Anti-Flag isn't particularly useful or informative. Nothing that's forced like that ever is.

I always wondered why listening to that album made me pee...

Coincidence. Writers subconsciously develop themes which can be spotted by outsiders after the fact.

Life is only a dream and we are the imagination of ourselves.

Did you know that dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish?

I think its because they aren't good at writing lyrics.

So, I listened to the new album and they're still on about gasoline (The Ranks of the Massess Rising).
