Hello fans of Anti-Flag. I'm a fourteen year old from Lakeridge, Virginia, land of absolutely nothing interesting. I love music and art, I'm in the CFPA visual arts program at my school and can play a little guitar. I try to be a vegetarian but I'll eat meat a few times a month. I like newer punk rock like Anti-Flag (obviously) and Rise Against, but I'm interested in some of the older stuff and if you have some songs or band suggestions that would be great. I've never been to a live concert but I hope to go see Anti-Flag next month in Maryland. Although it's an hour and a half drive up there, and neither of my parents will want drive me. So we'll see how that turns out.

Hello Zemie!

That's cool that you are trying to be a vegetarian.  Take it slow and it will get easier, trust me!

First concerts are always a blast.  Maybe you can bus it?
I'm PRG/Poofah, and I ran http://peacepunk.net for nearly 5 years before being promoted to the official Anti-Flag website. It's nice to meet you all! I will be administering this forum alongside Anti-Flag and the A-F Records crew.

I will actually be in Maryland tomorrow with a friend for the renaissance festival, but I'll still be about an hour from your show. Sorry. But some good news: My grandma said she might be able to drive me to the Anti-Flag show in Maryland, if I can get one of my friends to come. So there's hope, huzzah!

Yeah, insulting me is totally going to get me to come to your show. It's not my fault I can't go and now I wouldn't want to anyway. Unless you were being sarcastic. I can never tell if people are being sarcastic over the internet.

Hello and welcome, you'll have to get used to insults if you intend to stick around here! Don't worry, they don't mean it really (apart from when they say Anti-Flag suck, then they mean it).

hey and welcome, hope you get to catch an AF show, it's a shitload of fun.  as for other bands check out Strike Anywhere, The Holy Mess, Bad Religion(obviously) and of course older stuff like The Clash, Minor Threat, and Operation Ivy.  There is a ton of music out there, are you looking for hardcore, ska, indie, pop-punk?
peace

I like hardcore or melodic hardcore mostly, although I'll listen to pop-punk occasionally. I like Bad Religion, but I've only heard a little of their music. Strike Anywhere (from what I read on their Wikipedia page) sounds like something I might like. I'll be sure to check them out.

Thanks for the warning. I should get used to insults anyway, I'm far too sheltered.

You should definitely listen to Strike Anywhere.

if, on the off-chance you want to listen to some folk-punk bands, start with my good friends, The Wild.

not really, in fact those are the few bands that are worse than anti-flag.
[/not sarcasm]

but The Max Levine Ensemble is great.
and The Disregardables
and Andrew Jackson Jihad
and Bomb The Music Industry
and Defiance Ohio
and after you listen to all of those, (they all have free music somewhere on the internet completely legally) I have shittons of more suggestions.

In DC tmle are a huge band. I've always wanted to see them in another city, though, because I know someone who saw them in Boston and no one knew their lyrics and no one was dancing. That blows my mind. Ain't a kid in the hardcore/punk scenes in DC who doesn't know the lyrics to The Max Levine Ensemble. At their shows here everyone goes crazy and sings along. Ah, local bands. In any case, they are a great live band (I should know, I see them at least once or twice a month) and you will have a great time.

PS - the trick to having an intense amount of fun with max levine is to get Spoonboy drunk. I've never witnessed such a hysterical occurrence, but I have heard it is beyond words.
