A little old, but from their Facebook page:

Statement of Autonomy11/10/11

Passed by the General Assembly at Occupy Wall Street

Occupy Wall Street is a people’s movement. It is party-less, leaderless, by the people and for the people. It is not a business, a political party, an advertising campaign or a brand. It is not for sale.

We welcome all, who, in good faith, petition for a redress of grievances through non-violence. We provide a forum for peaceful assembly of individuals to engage in participatory as opposed to partisan debate and democracy. We welcome dissent.

Any statement or declaration not released through the General Assembly and made public online at www.nycga.net should be considered independent of Occupy Wall Street.

We wish to clarify that Occupy Wall Street is not and never has been affiliated with any established political party, candidate or organization. Our only affiliation is with the people.

The people who are working together to create this movement are its sole and mutual caretakers. If you have chosen to devote resources to building this movement, especially your time and labor, then it is yours.

Any organization is welcome to support us with the knowledge that doing so will mean questioning your own institutional frameworks of work and hierarchy and integrating our principles into your modes of action.

SPEAK WITH US, NOT FOR US.

Occupy Wall Street values collective resources, dignity, integrity and autonomy above money. We have not made endorsements. All donations are accepted anonymously and are transparently allocated via consensus by the General Assembly or the Operational Spokes Council.

We acknowledge the existence of professional activists who work to make our world a better place. If you are representing, or being compensated by an independent source while participating in our process, please disclose your affiliation at the outset. Those seeking to capitalize on this movement or undermine it by appropriating its message or symbols are not a part of Occupy Wall Street.

We stand in solidarity. We are Occupy Wall Street.

This movement has surpassed even my expectations.

What the fuck is it with everyone standing by and taking pictures? I know it's important to make these things public, but if most of the crowd simply had joined the sitting folks, they could have not been removed that easily.

And this may sound naive, but I will never understand how you can become a person like that cop. I mean, I know a bit about how this actually works and how it can be explained that someone ends up harming people who are neither attacking them or are not even being aggressive. But if you break it down to the second where the cop decides to start hurting innocent, harmless folks just sitting there...I don't get that.

I've said the same thing. When the cops start beating people, you don't pull out a camera, you rip those fuckers off your friends. If you're not willing to do that, then maybe you shouldn't be in the front of a protest.

Have you ever been pepper sprayed or been to jail? They both suck. There's nothing wrong with not wanting either of those things to happen to you.

That's pretty nuts. I see the importance of cameras in gaining evidence to sue the pants off the cops but dunno what to think of this wall-of-iPhones. The way the cop flourishes the spray is like he's about to perform a magic trick.

Not wanting these things to happen to you doesn't mean you have to stand by and take pictures. And I just said, it would have made it harder for the cops, not that expected it from everybody. But if you're not going to do anything against what's happening out of fear, it looks different than what those people are doing with their cameras and phones. At least to me.

After 42 days, Occupy Edmonton was evicted today.  Now the question on our minds, and on the minds of many camps around the world that are facing similar consequences, is "what's next?"  Where does this movement go from here, and how do we prevent this from turning into "feel-good" marches that gather crowds, but have no long term vision?  Should we start occupying buildings?  Should we even maybe start purchasing buildings legally and turning them into collectively run non-heirarchical workplaces?  Occupy Wall Street (in New York) has half a million dollars in donations.  What should this money be used for?

I'm interested in having this diaglogue with the people here, and maybe hearing the experiences of your own camps, and if they're still up.

So the Washington State Capitol building has been occupied.  I'm trying to get a good feed of this but I can't find anything!  Will post more news as soon as it develops.

So I'm sure that everyone is aware that attempts to occupy buildings are being met with arrests.  I'm wondering if anyone knows of a building occupation that has been successfully defended thus far?

I don't know of any building occupations, the last I heard they were still occupying various parks in Atlanta, as they get thrown out of one they move to another. I think Occupy Athens is dead, but my news is out of date.
