So I just got a new comp and everything is working on it fine except the GPU, it is a AMD Radeon HD 6670, and the computer is just not finding it or acknowledging that it is hooked up. I have tried to install the drivers and that didn't work, I have also opened it up to make sure it was pushed in all the way. I was just wondering if anyone else had some ideas on what could be up? I really hope it isn't DOA,.

Floyd might be able to help you.
I'm PRG/Poofah, and I ran http://peacepunk.net for nearly 5 years before being promoted to the official Anti-Flag website. It's nice to meet you all! I will be administering this forum alongside Anti-Flag and the A-F Records crew.

Am I so out of date on computers that I had to google what GPU is? I guess so, and here I thought I was the computer expert on the site.

So, this "GPU" is the video card, or at least the modern equivalent to one right? I am guessing you have something on screen because you said you installed drivers, so odds are it is plugged in right. If you are trying for dual displays, then this is a whole other thing.
After what you have tried, the next thing I would do is uninstall all the drivers, shut down the computer, remove and plug the card into a different slot (if there is another one it fits) restart the computer and see if it autodetects then. Also, you may need to fiddle with the BIOS but probably not, it may not hurt to take a look, Google is your friend with that. Hardware is much harder to give advice on over the internet just keep fucking with it until it starts working, that's what I do.

That is about what I've been doing, I shot AMD Tech a email. Right now I am just running it off a Intel HD Card which works for most things. Just thought I'd ask some other people if they had any ideas. And I actually didn't think to mess with the BIOS so Ill give those a look as well. Thanks for the help :D

as I was laying in bed trying to go to sleep I remembered Device Manager.

Does it show up under Device Manager?

If you have not checked device manager and don't know how, in XP right click on My Computer and go to Properties click on the Hardware Tab and click on Device Manager. You said this is a new computer, so you are probably running Windows 7, I can't remember right off hand how to get to device manager, I have not used win7 in a while. I think it is:
Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager

if Windows recognizes it it should be under Display Devices, if it is recognized but does not have drivers it will have an ?! next to it and may be listed under Other or Unknown Devices.

If you are not running Windows, format the hard drive and install Windows XP, not Vista, not 7, XP. If this is a mac, you have my condolences, sell it and buy a PC running Windows.

Sadly it does not show up under the Device Manager which made me worried that it might be dead. The only thing that shows up is the Intel card. And I game on PC, I wouldn't touch a Mac with a 10 foot pole ;) lol.

so when this other card is installed nothing shows up on screen at all?
I would get an MS-DOS boot disk, most video cards have DOS compatibility. Boot from the disk (there are CD-ROM and USB DOS Boot disk images out there) and you should be able to get something, if nothing else a C:\> prompt then you will at least know if the card works.

I would love to stay and help, but I must go to bed.
