Please bring the Q&A back!
We will be doing something like this, but instead of written responses, we will be doing video responses. Look forward to it.   :)
I'm PRG/Poofah, and I ran http://peacepunk.net for nearly 5 years before being promoted to the official Anti-Flag website. It's nice to meet you all! I will be administering this forum alongside Anti-Flag and the A-F Records crew.

A lot of the old regular members left, not enough new people joined and the remaining folks are too few or too occupied with other stuff or too lazy to keep the forum alive. Floyd mostly blames facebook, PRG blames marriage and John has bookmark issues.Oh, and once in while an old member shows up, points out that the forum is dead and leaves again after a couple of days. And now it's up to you to end the vicious circle.

Hey everyone, some of the suggestions will be implemented in the coming weeks here, and there will be more updates to coincide with various releases that are coming up.  I believe a "big push" is required to get newer members to stay around, and what better time to have a big push than before the release of a new album?  So you're going to see a lot of changes in the near future.I actually have no power at my place right now, because for whatever reason, the power company here is quite incompetant.  So I've been relying on library computers, which are very slow and don't have the tools I require.Soybot, I don't get paid to run the forum--I get paid to do other things for them--some which are made public, and some which are not.I'm very unlikely to bring back the media forum, but nothing is impossible I suppose.  If you've been here long enough, you'll know that this sub-forum was actually the newest sub-forum, and when I added it, I got complaints that it was unnecessary.  So maybe it will just take some time to adjust?

The forum looks a bit empty w/o In the Media. Even if it was a slower section, it had a very distinct purpose. It seems to me like it could only help, not hurt to still have it, unless I'm missing something.

I find it annoying to search through all the other threads in General or having to use the search function to find certain threads from the media forum. I can imagine, it's the same for other people and they would rather just leave it then to post there.

1. No. I was referring to this:

The problem isn't with bringing old users back.  The problem is with finding new users and evolving the site.  We're going through a transitional period right now.  We're making a new website.  A new store.  There is a new CD coming out.  There are going to be changes.

This forum was created as to provide a mechanism for fans to find others who felt passionately about Anti-Flag and left wing politics, and to hopefully as well allow them to learn and educate themselves through their interaction and discussions.  However, the average age of the forum has increasingly gone up over the years, and now the users who are younger and not as eloquent in their speech stick out like a sore thumb.  The forum worked best when everyone grew together.

Not to mention, as people get older, enter into careers, and get married, it becomes harder to find free time.  They may eventually grow out of Anti-Flag completely.  So the forum can't be sustainable under these conditions.

The forum needs to make sense.  It needs to be useful.  It needs to be relevant.  It needs to at least somehow promote and help organize the causes that the band believes in.  There needs to be a greater emphasis on the shows, and a greater emphasis on activism.  To those here who believe that activism or education is a waste of time, that's fine.  But it is of my opinion that a far greater waste of time to argue about it online.  That was never the purpose of this site, and when debate here turns into virtually nothing but that, then that tells me that the site is not reaching the correct audience.  Without the Anti-Flag discussion, and without the activism, what reason is there for an Anti-Flag fan to sign up here as opposed to anywhere else?  This forum has lost its identity.

So the new website will be more Anti-Flag and activism based, though I won't go into details at the moment.

2. Yes.

3. I haven't seen her around in a while. About 3 months ago she got told by our resident omniscient being to seek love and enlightenment outside the internet and I think, that's what she probably did.

Maybe the other ones aren't active, because they are buried in General? And one of the threads is only active, because I recently made it and searched for it today to post in it.

Anyway, it's of course not that big a deal. On the other hand, I don't think a separated media forum is the end of the world either.

How about a "remove formatting" button for the reply box? is that possible? I don't like pasting things I copy from other places into notepad or turning off javascript before I paste them here.

Also, make it so when you post an image, it shows the [ img] [/ img] tags instead of the picture itself. if the picture is larger than the edit box's default size, it makes things annoying.

or you could just ignore me, that's probably the best thing to do, I just redesigned my website and I am feeling arrogant.

You should be able to set it yourself by setting the translation drop down under Browse to English.  Is that not working?

Since we can't delete threads on our own, I think there should be a  sort of 'dustbin' sub-forum, where we can move threads that have been locked and/or hidden so we don't have to see them when browsing the rest of the forum. It can be a bit of an eye-sore, and is definitely not something you'd want to see when joining a new forum.

YES!
Plus, you know, it kind of defeats the purpose of locking and hiding threads if everyone can still see them and read them anyway.

Good point.  But can't the Riot Zone be used for this purpose?

I suppose so, but it couldn't hurt having a sub-forum only visible to members where all the spam-bot posts could go. The Riot Zone already serves a purpose, it's for name-calling and slander; a very important part of TPU.

Maybe I could put a sub-forum within the Riot Zone specifically for spam topics?

Yeah, also a lot of spam seems to be getting approved by someone, can you see who it is and if it is not an active member maybe ban them? it could be that a spam account with zero posts is approving the guest spam to circumvent the anti-spam system.

Also...
I HAVE NOW TAKEN OVER THE FORUM AGAIN.
