That's on the Gamecube.  (Good choice, by the way.  My favorite game of all time, until I get around to hacking my Wii to play Super Smash Bros Brawl +   )

Wrong on so many levels!  Not only did the SNES have better games, but a lot of N64 games are literally unplayable today.  (Meaning, they have such a poor frame rate that they will give you a seizure.)  I went back to playing my favorite N64 game, Perfect Dark, for the first time in years, and I couldn't play it because of how choppy it was.  I don't know how we put up with it back then!

Star Fox 64, Orcarina Of Time, and Super Mario 64 are a couple of exceptions.  Those still hold up.

You should get a new Commodore. In the meantime have you considered emulation? I'm quite partial to the VICE emulator myself. It has everything from the PET to the C64DTV.

those were the games i was talking about. along with Mario Kart and Goldeneye.

and you can just get the snes emulator and just play on your computer.

i was thinking snes for mario games and mega man games etc.
and n64 for the great party games...

But Goldeneye doesn't hold up today either because its frame rate just isn't smooth enough for a first person shooter.  I don't know about Mario Kart, but I've heard bad things.

It's one of the problems of the PSX/N64 era that the SNES era didn't suffer from.

i was considering emulation but never got it.

I only have my computer and a Nintendo 64. As I only have one game for n64, I just play computer.
I was trying to finish Theme Hospital, but I quit. Waiting for The Sims 3 now.
EDIT: Forgot about Fish Tycoon, I'm trying to discover all magic fish species lol.

If you can clean the cartridges they should be alright to play. We played N64 a lot while I was at college, a lot of Smash Bros and Mario Kart and other multiplayer games. My N64 is pretty messed up though. I have to turn it on and off about 20 times before it actually turns on and works.

I think emulators smooth out that frame rate problem because I played a Goldeneye ROM that was smooth and played pretty good. Also, Mario Kart was fine when we played it on the N64 so I don't know what you are talking about there.

If that's all that's wrong it would be a good place to start, you could probably make your own if you have some 5 and 12 volt transformers. When the power supply goes out though, it often has irregular voltage spikes and can fry some chips. What exactly does it do when you try to turn it on?

all thats wrong is that the metal tip on the lead that connects in the back came off inside the machine. Darn i wanna play that stupid text adventure game "the count"
