Why do we do it?
Do we have to do it in school?
(I'm not sure if this is the right forum)
Watch me fault her
You're living like a disaster
She said kill me faster
with strawberry gashes all over

Mainly to brainwash us from an early age. You don't have to say it. You don't even have to stand up. If they try to write you up for defiance or w/e, just tell them that you're gonna call the ACLU. They'll back off.
History is not something that happens to people--it is the activity of people. Culture does not dictate human behavior--it is the sum of human behavior. Technological progree is not a force of nature, either.
There is no civilization without civilizing, no capitalization without us capitalizing and capitulating.

They make you mindlessly recite it so you don't know you are literally pledging allegiance to a flag.
It's horrible nationalistic brainwash in my opinion.

wut
"I pledge allegiance to the flag..."

It's right in the first line.
The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.

I mean how ridiculous it is to pledge allegiance to an object; one only glorified for nationalistic reasons.

Because everyone recites it from such an early age, we don't even think about its meaning til years later.

The Pledge of Allegiance seems like quite a bizarre concept for a somewhat free country.
"There is only one god and his name is Death. And there is only one thing we say to Death: 'Not today.'"

We aren't really free, They have us say things like the pledge, to make us think we are the dominate country even though were not. No one is.
No one can sing with smog in their throat.

You don't legally have to, but at the age children are learning it everyone else is doing it with no hesitation.
Students should be informed of the right not to say the pledge of alegiance, because when your starting school I'm pretty damn sure fitting it is enough pressure so no one cares about what they are saying.

My friend and I would never stand for the pledge, so are teacher (republican IDIOT) told us to show some respect for the people who died for the flag. Our answer: people died for the swastika. He didn't like that very much.

Surely the people died for the country and the people in it rather than the flag, no?

My point is that most people here could give a shit about the people in America or the government. They're just nationalists who would fight for the flag and the name America.

It is really bizzare for a free country. I say the pledge so I dont stir the pot with my friends and my teachers I respect. But I definately do not believe in what it says. Its an attempt at indoctrinating little kids into thinking were the best people in the world. Its Bullshit.
"I think it only makes sense to seek out and identify structures of authority, hierarchy, and domination in every aspect of life, and to challenge them. Unless a justification for them can be given, they are illegitimate, and should be dismantled, to increase the scope of human freedom."
-Noam Chomsky

"Books are the carriers of civilization. Without books, history is silent, literature dumb, science crippled, thought and speculation at a standstill. I think that there is nothing, not even crime, more opposed to poetry, to philosophy, ay, to life itself than this incessant business."

It's funny at my school I'd have to say maybe only 10 people in my class say the pledge. I for one am not saying it. I don't think people are not saying it becuase they don't believe in it but they're just lazy and don't want to. XD lol
