It'll be mostly for watching videos, so most of the features I want are geared towards that. I want something with a nice OLED screen, good sound quality, and 64GB of flash. Lots of audio and video formats would be nice too, but maybe not realistic. Pretty much all flash players are still 32GB, so it looks like I'm gonna have to wait a cycle to upgrade.
For basic music I've still got a little Sansa that works brilliantly, and a clunky old Zen with a messed up screen.

Don't get me wrong i loved the book but maybe its just because I'm a huge kubrick fan and huge fan of the film media in general. i just love the visual shot in the film and the music is one if top soundtracks to any movie.

I don't know why anyone would need that much storage space, especially on a portable device, unless you are going to run an operating system from it. My Computer with the most storage space on it has 68gb on two hard drives, one with 9GB and another with 60 GB and neither of them are even half full. I have a 5-year old 4gb iPod with all my music, a fully functional Windows 3.1 installation, and all of my school work and it is just over half full. I guess I've always just been careful not to let junk pile up on my computers, every file on it has a purpose. I have an old laptop from 1995 and it only has a 1gb hard drive, to save space I have moved programs to floppy disks. RAM is another thing I don't see any need in having excessive amounts of, none of them have more than 1gb of ram, on my website's server I'm running Windows XP Professional on 320mb of ram and it works fine.
I blame the software programmers, they think that just because RAM and hard drives are relatively inexpensive they can make their software as bloated as they want and people will use it because they don't have any choice. well I say it's time to demand the programmers to return to the ways of the 80s, to start making streamlined, programs that efficiently use system resources to to a lot more with a lot less. If you can get on the internet and play MP3s on a Commode 64 with a 5 1/4" Floppy drive and 64k of RAM why cant they design a program for a modern system that has similar resource requirements.

EDIT:
That was a lot longer than I thought it was.

It doesn't look like the manufacturer sells them independently. You can probably pick one up cheap at Office Depot though.
Flash drives use flash memory, which is basically just a little chip that holds data. SD cards, MemorySticks, thumb drives, etc are all flash.
http://en.wikipedia....ki/Flash_memory
A portable hard drive is just like the hard disk drive inside your computer, except put into a casing and connected with a USB cord so it's portable. Hard drives have spinning platters that hold data, and needles that read/write data. They look kind of like vinyl record turntables on the inside, and they work more or less the same. The moving parts make them more susceptible to damage, but they can hold a lot more than flash.

Edit: I looked around a bit and it looks like that model is crap. It's got horrible ratings on Amazon. Apparently there's a defect in the cable.
If you don't need it to be portable, I would recommend getting a regular external hard drive. For the money you're paying, you can get a terabyte of space.
Any of these would work:
http://www.newegg.co...6&name=7200 RPM
The key things to look for in a hard drive right now are: 1. Good ratings, 2. 7200RPM, 3. 16MB cache. That way you get something that won't crap out on you, and it will work efficiently.
